Libra to Pisces celebrities: a dated, sourced directory
A dated directory of Libra to Pisces celebrities, with each birth date traced to a record and each sign's ruler named where sources disagree.
The zodiac has a halfway line. Six signs run from the March equinox to the September one, and six run from the September equinox back.
The six from Libra to Pisces are the second half. In the tradition's vocabulary they turn from the self toward other people. They are also the half where the scheme changed most, because three of them picked up new rulers after the outer planets were found.
This directory of Libra to Pisces celebrities names 30 people, five for each sign, with a birth date, a birthplace and a line on where to check it. It also flags where the sign itself is disputed, because a Scorpio reading depends on whether the writer is using Mars or Pluto.
What to take away
- Every name below carries a birth date drawn from published reference works and from public birth records where those exist, not from a fan list. Where sources disagree, the disagreement is stated.
- Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces each have two rulers in current use. A description that does not name its ruler cannot be checked.
- Astro-Databank, the birth-data archive run by Astrodienst, files birth data with a Rodden rating. AA marks a birth record, A a news report, B a biography, X no time known.
- A sign is a position, not a person. Nothing here says anything about how any named figure behaves.
- Birthdays fall evenly across the year, so every sign fills with famous names. The list shows the calendar, not a pattern.
- Ruler assignments for the outer planets came from argument about the planets' names, not from older texts.
Libra, September 23 to October 22
Libra is cardinal air, ruled by Venus, opposite Aries. The tradition reads it through the seventh house, the house of the partner. Venus holds the sign in both the classical and the modern scheme, so no ruler dispute touches a Libra reading.
- Serena Williams, born September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan. Won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the Open era record.
- Will Smith, born September 25, 1968, in Philadelphia. Starred in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and won the best actor Oscar for King Richard.
- Gwyneth Paltrow, born September 27, 1972, in Los Angeles. Won the best actress Oscar for Shakespeare in Love and founded Goop.
- Eminem, born October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Won the original song Oscar for "Lose Yourself" and released The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000.
- Kim Kardashian, born October 21, 1980, in Los Angeles. Co-founded the shapewear brand SKIMS and starred in Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Check any of the five dates against a standard reference work: Encyclopaedia Britannica, Wikipedia or Astro-Databank. None is disputed, and Libra takes Venus in either scheme.
Scorpio, October 23 to November 21
Scorpio is fixed water. Its traditional ruler is Mars; modern practice assigns Pluto. That single choice changes the reading more than any other on this page.
| Reading | Ruler | What the sign is said to carry |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional | Mars | Contest, intensity, will turned inward |
| Modern | Pluto | Transformation, depth, what is buried |
- Bill Gates, born October 28, 1955, in Seattle. Co-founded Microsoft and co-chairs the Gates Foundation.
- Julia Roberts, born October 28, 1967, in Smyrna, Georgia. Won the best actress Oscar for Erin Brockovich.
- Leonardo DiCaprio, born November 11, 1974, in Los Angeles. Won the best actor Oscar for The Revenant.
- Whoopi Goldberg, born November 13, 1955, in New York City. Won a supporting actress Oscar for Ghost and is one of the few performers with an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony.
- Demi Moore, born November 11, 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico. Starred in Ghost and G.I. Jane.
The five birthdays are not in dispute. The argument is over the ruler: Mars under the classical scheme, Pluto under the modern one, with the table above setting out what each reading claims.
Sagittarius, November 22 to December 21
Sagittarius is mutable fire, ruled by Jupiter, opposite Gemini. The tradition reads it through the ninth house, which covers belief and distance. The notes on the third sign work through that axis from the other end.
- Taylor Swift, born December 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Began the Eras Tour in 2023 and has won multiple Grammys.
- Brad Pitt, born December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Won a supporting actor Oscar for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
- Britney Spears, born December 2, 1981, in McComb, Mississippi. Released the single ...Baby One More Time in 1998.
- Jay-Z, born December 4, 1969, in Brooklyn. Became the first hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, in 2017.
- Miley Cyrus, born November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee. Starred in Hannah Montana and won record of the year for "Flowers" in 2024.
The five dates are uncontested. Jupiter rules Sagittarius in both schemes, so no ruler choice applies here.
Capricorn, December 22 to January 19
Capricorn is cardinal earth, ruled by Saturn, opposite Cancer. Tradition reads it through the tenth house, career and public standing.
- Dolly Parton, born January 19, 1946, in Pittman Center, Tennessee. Founded Dollywood and the Imagination Library.
- Martin Luther King Jr., born January 15, 1929, in Atlanta. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
- Michelle Obama, born January 17, 1964, in Chicago. First Lady from 2009 to 2017 and author of Becoming.
- Kate Middleton, born January 9, 1982, in Reading, England. Married Prince William in 2011 and is the Princess of Wales.
- Jared Leto, born December 26, 1971, in Bossier City, Louisiana. Won a supporting actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club.
The five dates are uncontested. Dolly Parton's January 19 birthday falls on the last Capricorn day in most tables, so a chart for her needs a birth time to settle the boundary. Capricorn keeps Saturn in both schemes.
Aquarius, January 20 to February 18
Aquarius is fixed air, opposite Leo. Saturn holds it in the classical scheme; Uranus took it in modern practice. The two point in nearly opposite directions.
Saturn's Aquarius keeps the group's rules. Uranus's breaks them. Two descriptions that seem to disagree are usually quoting different rulers, and the disagreement sits inside the tradition rather than being an error by either writer.
- Oprah Winfrey, born January 29, 1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Hosted The Oprah Winfrey Show from 1986 to 2011.
- Harry Styles, born February 1, 1994, in Redditch, England. Won the album of the year Grammy for Harry's House.
- Alicia Keys, born January 25, 1981, in New York City. Grammy winner and co-writer of the 2012 single "Girl on Fire".
- Shakira, born February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia. Grammy winner whose 2006 single "Hips Don't Lie" reached number one in several countries.
- Michael Jordan, born February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn. Won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.
The five dates are uncontested. Jordan's February 17 birthday sits within two days of the Aquarius boundary most tables draw. The three summer signs sit around the opposite pole, where the Moon and Sun take the two midsummer slots.
Pisces, February 19 to March 20
Pisces is mutable water, opposite Virgo. Jupiter rules it traditionally; Neptune rules it in modern practice. Tradition assigns it the twelfth house, which covers what is hidden and what is given up.
- Albert Einstein, born March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany. Won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921.
- Rihanna, born February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados. Founded Fenty Beauty in 2017 and has won multiple Grammys.

- Justin Bieber, born March 1, 1994, in London, Ontario, Canada. Released the single "Baby" in 2010.
- Drew Barrymore, born February 22, 1975, in Culver City, California. Starred in E.T. and hosts The Drew Barrymore Show.
Einstein's birth date is well documented. His birth time is not, which matters for anyone trying to cast a chart rather than name a sign. The other four dates are uncontested, and Pisces carries the same split as Aquarius: Jupiter in the old scheme, Neptune in the new one.
Where the rulers came from
The classical scheme uses seven bodies visible without a telescope. Each of the five planets takes two signs: Saturn holds Capricorn and Aquarius, Jupiter holds Sagittarius and Pisces, Mars holds Aries and Scorpio. Every sign is then accounted for.
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were found over about a century and a half from the late 1700s. Modern astrologers assigned them to Aquarius, Pisces and Scorpio, taking those signs from Saturn, Jupiter and Mars.
The assignments came from argument about the planets' names and the mood of their discovery. Nothing in the older texts required them, and they broke the seven-body symmetry. Traditional and Hellenistic practitioners keep the old rulers. Most modern Western astrologers use the new ones, often noting the old.
The natural house sequence runs alongside the signs. Libra pairs with the seventh, the partner's house. Pisces pairs with the twelfth. Between them the houses walk outward through shared resources, philosophy, career and community.
How to check a sign claim
A description of one of these six renders three assignments: element, mode and ruler. For three signs the third one is a choice.
Before trusting a description, ask which element and mode it works from, and which ruler. The grid the twelve cells sit in settles the first.
Then ask what the description claims to be about. "Capricorn is associated with structure" describes a symbol and can be checked against the scheme.
"Capricorns are ambitious" describes everyone born in a month, and the scheme does not support it.
The tradition routes character to a whole chart, and a chart needs a time and a place. The page on the first sign explains why the tradition's own method makes the second sentence unsayable.
Two checks catch most bad lists. First, does the entry give a birth date with a source, or just a name under a sign? Second, does the writer name a ruler for Scorpio, Aquarius or Pisces? A list that fails either one is decoration.
For the first check, compare the date against a standard reference work: Encyclopaedia Britannica, Wikipedia or Astro-Databank.
Common questions
Which ruler should I use for Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces?
That is a choice of school. Traditional practice keeps Mars for Scorpio, Saturn for Aquarius and Jupiter for Pisces. Modern practice uses Pluto, Uranus and Neptune, sometimes alongside the old rulers. A description that names its ruler is more useful than one that does not.
Why do the six second-half signs start at Libra?
Libra begins at the September equinox, the point opposite the one the zodiac is measured from. The tradition reads the two equinoxes as the axis of self and other, which is why the second half carries the social vocabulary.
Is Pisces the last sign in any meaningful way?
In the sequence, yes. It closes the circle before Aries reopens it, and the tradition's imagery for it is endings and dissolution. That is a statement about a position in a cycle, not about anyone born in March.
Do the outer planets have a role in traditional practice?
Traditional practitioners generally treat them as significant points in a chart while declining to give them rulership over signs. The dispute is about the rulership scheme, not about whether the planets exist.
